Celebrating Memorial Day....

Heart in Hand "Olde Glory"
stitched on 32 ct. coffee-dyed linen w/ recommended threads

A quick post this morning to share a finish. I stitched this one last week and finished it yesterday. I decided to finish as a little pin pillow but will most likely add it to my the display in my office. This was a cute design to stitch.

Happy Memorial Day.....we start summer school today (ugh!) so I will be working. Hope everyone has a wonderful day and happy stitching....

LK Finishing....

I am a huge Lizzie Kate fan and was excited when Angela started the Lizzie Kate Lovers blog! I certainly didn't want to be left out so I got my rear in gear and did some finishing so I could post too!

LK "Merry Ho Ho" & "By Golly Be Jolly"

Cubes are my favorite finishing technique since it requires no sewing! I definitely slept through Bow-Tying 101...thank goodness for stick pins! This is only my second flat-fold and it is becoming my second favorite although it does require a little more figurin'!

Just in case you were wondering.....I finished the backs too! :)

I do hope to do some more finishing tomorrow if my mojo can hold out! Hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day as we remember our military members!

Happy stitching....

Workbasket "Rejoice"--JCS Ornament 2005
SB "In the Stable"--JCS Ornament 2004

Here is this month's installment....not sure where the month went but "we" just did make it under the gun!

I absolutely love the Knotted Tree "Peace" ornament...love the colors in this one and I used the DMC conversion a light silvery grey fabric I had. I am not sure why I never really noticed it until this month but I'm glad I did.

Well that's it from my corner of the universe .... thanks for visiting! Happy stitches.....

Goode Huswife "Carolina"....

Goode Huswife "Carolina"
stitched on 28ct. coffee dyed evenweave w/recommended DMC

I just loved this sampler. I finished her this weekend and then gave her a warm, relaxing coffee bath last night. I decided not to stitch her eyes...not sure why but I just like her this way. I think the thing that hooked me on this sampler was the dress color....a tealish blue....(no not Tarheel blue!) After thinking about it, hubby suggested I stitch the dress in Indigo blue since I am from South Carolina and indigo was such a big part of our history. Just couldn't do it...I decided to stick with the recommended color and I can't wait to get her framed.

I had an entertaining time while stitching this one. For you beach music fans, I kept humming the tune from the Chairmen of the Board "Carolina Girls.....best in the world!" I also had a nickname for this design ..."That 70's Sampler"....the golds, greens, browns bring back such memories of my childhood home's appliances. Good thing I like these colors since I have so many Goode Huswife and CHS to left to stitch!

Oh well...off to stitch some ornaments and exchange stitching. I just acquired an older Bent Creek design that I am itching to start so have to get my obligations done soon! Hope you have a great weekend with many happy stitches....

LK Exchange from Michele....

After spending a few days in Kentucky, I found this treat in my mailbox tonight. Michele stitched this cute pinkeep in the Lizzie Kate exchange. The design is from one of the Double Flip-its series and I already know that this will be displayed on my desk at work....trust me I do need to be reminded to laugh somedays so this should do the trick! Although this is a no extras exchange, Michele included the cutest scissor fob, which are happily attached to my scissors!

We had a good time in Kentucky (with the exception of the yucky weather)...work for hubby but relaxation for me. I did get some stitching done with a finish, which I hope to share in the next day or two. Well...off to catch up on my blogs until "Lost" comes on...only two episodes left! Happy stitches....

Seasonal Exchange--Spring -back

Back

Lisa let me know she has received her package in the Seasonal Exchange. The basketweave on the flower basket was adapted from LK "Friends make Life Sweeter". I had stitched this before and loved the look so I used it again on this basket. I am so glad Lisa liked it.

Hope you have a great Mother's Day weekend.....happy stitches....

CHS Frederika....

CHS "Frederika" stitched on 40ct Pearled Barley w/ recommended DMC

I (mostly) finished "Frederika" last night and I love it! I can't decide whether to fill in the border since "Frederick" isn't filled and I plan to stitch it too. Once I have them both done, I will make a decision whether to stitch it or not.

Now....I am off to start BBD "A Stitcher's Companion". I picked up some Weeks 30 ct. linen in Straw at
DSL a couple of weeks ago and I have been itching to stitch on it!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day weekend with many happy stitches.....

The Girls.....

Here's my progress on "Frederika" as of today...

CHS "Frederika"

Should be able to finish this one up this month....so glad to have that bird done. I wanted something easier to stitch during our trip to Atlanta and started this one.....

Goode Huswife "Carolina"
28ct coffee-dyed evenweave w/ recommended DMC

I love the colors in this one...especially her dress.

We had a fabulous time in Atlanta. First.....

We went to see Great Big Sea and it was the most entertaining concert I have ever been to. Also saw Corb Lund and the Hurtin' Albertans and he was surprisingly good. He plays a mix of country/folk and we came home with two of his CDs.

Next....

Horse sculpture made from common metal items!

We went up the road to Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA. Great museum worth visiting if you're ever in the area!

Hope you had a great stitching weekend and wishing you happy stitches....
