Me, Myself & I February exchange....

Boy...the 25th really snuck up on "us" but "we" all got our ornaments completed for this month's exchange....

SB "Angels Sang", JCS 2001 Ornament issue
Elizabeth's Designs "Christmas Ewe", JCS 2001 Ornament issue
Trail Creek Farm "Joyous", JCS 2004 Ornament issue

I am amazed how small the ornaments are when finished. Guess I need to pay closer attention to the design size....duh! Well...that's six down and only thirty to go!

I started CHS "Frederika" decided to start on the border first so nothing excited to show yet...at least nothing you can oooh and aaah over! I also decided to throw in "Lucky Ewe" from Bent Creek, which is stitching up quickly. Hopefully, I will finish this weekend.

Thanks for visiting and all of the wonderful comments. Happy stitching.....

F&S Easter Squares from Nadia...

I received my squares today from Nadia B and they are too cute! I love the little Easter eggs she used on her signature square. I can't wait to add them to my Easter collection and will finish them as a little pillow. She didn't include the design/designer information so I will have to get it from her to see if there are other holidays available. Hopefully Nadia will receive my squares soon too!

In other news.....thanks for all of our comments on my Dollar Tree frames! I hope those of you who had a chance to visit your Dollar Tree store were also able to find them. I went to another older store but they didn't have them. Hopefully they will have them later this spring if you weren't able to find them yet. Thanks for visiting and happy stitching.....

Dollar Tree treasures....

They just opened a new Dollar Tree near me and I just love this store so I had to go check it out. (If you have ever been in one, you will appreciate that all of the merchandise was neat and orderly and not an item could be found on the floor! I plan to take advantage of this and shop frequently as I know that it won't take long for the store to be in total disarray.)
Oh well, I digress......

I thought these were just the cutest frames, but I have to confess, I did hem and haw over whether to purchase them or not. (I have a drawer full of other great $1.00 finds that I have yet to find the perfect use so you can understand my reluctance for at least a nanosecond.) Well, I decided I would "splurge" today and bought three of them in the colors offered.

I was amazed how perfectly a finish from 2006 that's just been hanging around fit this frame....

Heart In Hand "Sunflower Sampler"

How cute is this!!!!!!! I can't believe how perfectly (well...in my opinion) this fits and I am now on the search two mini samplers to use in the other two. I do believe I will make a return trip to the Dollar Tree tomorrow and splurge on a few more.

Thanks for all your wonderful comments and visiting my blog. I love them and hope you enjoy visiting my blog as much as I love looking at all of yours! Well...after my daily blog reading, I will be off to stitch. Next up is going to be CHS "Fredrika".

Wishing you many happy stitches this weekend....

LK "Merry Ho Ho"....

LK "Merry Ho Ho" stitched on 16 ct. aida w/ DMC

I finished this one this weekend and plan to make it into a cube. I love these little charts and plan to stitch all of the Santa ones this year to display at work and at home. I still need to get the little redbird button to attach. Oops...I see that I didn't stitch a little bit of his suit on the right side...darn it! Oh well...he is mostly finished.

"Creative minds are rarely tidy." I am glad to know I am not the only "messy" crafter and your comments made me laugh! I usually keep my desk clean but if you could only see the areas surrounding it...it's amazing I can find anything in this room!

We had a wonderful Valentine's day today visiting my in-laws on the coast of SC. I now plan to stitch and watch Northanger Abbey tonight on Masterpiece Theater. As always, thanks for visiting and all of your great comments. Happy stitching.....

A little papercrafting.....

Well...my plans to stitch the day away didn't happen. Hubby in my stitching chair watching a Netflix on the computer forced me to spend two hours at my craft table. Too uncomfortable to stitch, I decided to make some Christmas cards. I love doing papercrafts but I am "messy". In two hours, I went from this.....

to this......

The fruits of my labor?

Three simple cards that I am not completing loving! Huh???? Just couldn't get the creative juices flowing and then the "mess" was frustrating so I had to quit! Now...time for some stitching after I clean up the mess! Hope your day was more productive and filled with happy stitches.....

Warning:Pic may be offensive ....

to my friends in the Northeast and anywhere else where SNOW is now a 4-letter word!

We have snow in South Carolina!!!!!

This is our house after 2 hours and it is really coming down now! The road is now covered too and it looks so peaceful...ahhhhhh. Well....off to stitch and gaze out my window.

P.S. Now I can try Carolyn's Snow Cream!

******Edited*******

This is our house this morning, 2/13/10,......

It's amazing how quickly it melts! I hate the sloshiness that will happen now...oh well, at least we got snow. Now, bring on spring!

Saturday get-together....

Saturday was a fun day spent with Amy and Nicole! I met them in Sumter and we visited a couple of quilt stores and yes....it was trouble!!!! We spent about 3 hours in the second one and had the best time. I could have gotten in some serious trouble...thank goodness I don't quilt.
To borrow Nicole's phrase, I too commissioned Amy to make me one of her tote bags and had fun picking out the fabric. Amy share her totes she had made when we made it back to her house and they are gorgeous! We also got enough fabric to make a small pouch and Amy just whipped mine up when we got back....

This is one of the fabrics I picked out and I love it. Being of little sewing talent, it was amazing to watch Amy just cut and sew this as if it was nothing...and with a zipper too.

She gave me this cute charm too attach....what a sweet friend!

Sunday was a very productive day and I actually framed two recent finishes. I found two frames on sale at Hobby Lobby that I knew would be perfect.

Goode Huswife "Sheldon Hawkes House"

This actually matches are guest bathroom since it has black and rust colors so I believe it will take up residence in there once I get the hanger. Not exactly the type of print I would normally use in the bathroom, but at least it will be displayed!

BBD "Truly Thine"

Not really sure where this one will reside but I just love this frame and red mat, which I made from heavy duty cardstock.

Thanks for all of your wonderful comments and thanks for visiting again. Well...off to visit your blog now and then to stitch.....happy stitches.....

Sheepish Designs "Down the River"....

Sheepish Designs "Down the River"
Stitched on 28 ct. "wake & bake" fabric with recommended fibers

Finished this one last night and love it. I have had this one in my stash for some time and just decided to stitch it. So glad I did as the colors are so much better in person! I have several Sheepish Designs designs in my stash and have never really stitched any. This was a great stitch so I think I will have to take another look at the others...it's amazing what I have forgotten I have!

Time for LOST....last season and hubby and I have been anxiously waiting the start. Anyone else watching? It has been a little over my head the past couple of seasons so I hope I can understand what happens in the end! :)
Thanks for visiting and happy stitches.....

RAK & LK Exchange #3......

Week from hell....that is how I will describe my week. So I can't tell you how badly I needed this little pick me up. I received the cutest package in the mail today from Faye ....

RAK-Faye R front

front

RAK-Faye back

back

Though Faye is a NC state graduate and huge North Carolina fan (hmmm..how can that be), she stitched this cutie for me...hopefully her fingers weren't burning since we are their conference rivals! I love the way she finished it with the cute charm and love the back! Isn't this the cutest fabric and I love the pin and buttons. Faye does papercrafting too and made this cute card with the sweetest note. Even though I work for Clemson's in-state rival (gotta eat..right!?!) I plan on displaying it discreetly on my desk so I can enjoy everyday! I need this little reminder to keep me sane and remind myself that I am one day closer to retirement!

On another positive note.....

LK Exchange #3

LK "Gather Friends" stitched on 28 ct evenweave w/recommended threads
Angela received her Lizzie Kate Exchange yesterday! I loved this design and am so glad Angela liked it too! I had issues with the finishing but I pleased with the end result.

RAK with some irony.....

RAK-Amy & Faye

Primitive Betty's Valentine freebie

After seeing this freebie, I stitched up a couple as pincushions to share with some special friends, Amy & Faye. This was a very fun design to stitch and I did take a few liberties with it. I love this design and will definitely stitch again for myself. Ironically, Faye received hers on Monday, which is the same day she had mailed my surprise.....great minds think alike I guess!

Thanks for all your comments on the Me,Myself & I exchange. If you have multiple personalities like me, you have just enough to form your own exchange! You can then have a pretty tree at the end of the year like me...and Amy! Oh well...off to stitch. Thanks for visiting and happy stitches....

Me, Myself & I Ornament Exchange.....

First, I have to blame Amy for this hair-brained idea! After seeing her Christmas trees packed with stitched ornaments, I decided I had to have one too. I know Amy not only stitched some of these ornaments but has received many over the years from gifts and exchanges. I love exchanges, but knowing myself, there was no way I could sign up for enough ornament exchanges to fill my tree by December. So....I decided I would start my own monthly exchange with me and myself. Over dinner one night, "we" formulated a plan, perused the JCS ornament magazines, discussed our likes and dislikes, and made a wish lists of our favorite ornaments. As with any good exchange, we had to have a monthly deadline and agreed we would get together on the 25th of each month to exchange said ornaments! If our calculations are correct, that would be 36 wonderful ornaments ready for my Christmas tree.

Well....here it is the, January 25th, and here are the fruits of our labors....

SB "2000 Years Ago", BBD "Quaker Medallion", Homespun Elegance "Starry Santa"

I would like to hone my finishing skills and decided to give try my hand at a strawberry...unfortunately it looks more like a carrot in real life! I believe we were all relatively pleased with our efforts and are anxious to start next month's batch.

On another note...

Thanks for all of the wonderful comments on "Truly Thine". I did find a white frame at Hobby Lobby so I just need to get busy and get it framed. After fondling my stash for a few nights, I finally decided to start an older design from Sheepish Designs.

I love the colors in this one...forgot to take a picture of my progress but here is the finished design. I t's stitching up quickly so hope to finish by this weekend!

Well...better get busy stitching. Happy stitches to you....
