Nantucket Sampler....

I had a good stitchy weekend and finished
up another Crazy Challenge piece.

Elizabeth's Garden "Nantucket Sampler"
stitched on 40ct khaki linen
w/DMC

This turned out to be a great little sampler
to stitch.   The finished size is only 6" x 3"
but this little sampler packs alot in it.   Although
I used DMC, the subtle thread changes in some
areas almost gives it an overdyed look.  I did give
my finish a little coffee soak to help tone
down the ecru border just a bit.

I love this little scene with the red house and
ship.  The bird and peacock are a little on the
large side but seem to make the sampler complete.
This design has been languishing in my basket
for many years and I am very happy it is stitched.

With summer fast approaching, I hope to sneak
in a few little Americana smalls.   As always....
thanks for visiting and happy stitching!

  1. Beautiful! I like the use of the DMC for this pattern. Sometimes I think the over dyes can take away from a design.

  7. How adorable - glad you had a chance to stitch this weekend. How long did you leave your piece in the coffee? I love this little pattern and need to find some that I can do while working on the big gals!

  28. Great job Karen...I think this is languishing in my stash somewhere. My DH always wants to know why objects are not in perspective in most XS projects. For example, a peacock as big as a ship. LOL I tell him if everything was to scale you couldn't see a lot of it and anyway, that's "Just the way it is". Congrats on all the progress you've made with your Crazy Challenge pieces. I'm envious!

  35. That sampler is so cute! One tends to forget some of the great patterns that were printed a long time ago. I think I have this one and it would look great in one of my bathrooms. I like that you gave it a wash too - makes the ecru less bright.

  36. Oh, I had no idea it was so small. Wow!!! It's really wonderful, Karen. Anxious to see you Americana pieces.
