Playing with thread.....

Faye at Carolina Stitcher made some beautiful pincushions a couple of months ago and inspired me to do the same.   I decided I would dig through some of my threads I hadn't used and stitched these designs from two of my older magazines.

I bought a variety of Needle Necessities thread about 10 years ago from a needlepoint shop and they have just been sitting there all this time waiting to be used.  They are very nice to stitch with so I will be using these a little more in the future.

I love playing with beads and have to admit I enjoyed making the marking pins as much as the pin cushions!  I can see more of these in my future!

  1. I too was inspired by Faye's pillows a month or so ago. That's the great thing about seeing everyone's blogs ~ They're ripe with inspiration!

Beautiful job on all of it, Karen. I've been dying to try the beaded pins. Can I ask what kind of glue you keep them in place with?

  5. Count me as another who is interested in the type of glue you used to make the marking pins ... I'd like to try a few of these myself. The pincushions are very sweet ... I'll have to dig up some of my forgotten Needle Necessities threads as well.

  6. Those are so pretty Karen. I think Faye has inspired several of us with her pretty little pincushions. I love the marking pins and would like to make some for myself as I could really use them at times. What type of pins do you use to make them?

  12. Your pincushions are fabulous, Karen. With all of the threads we seem to have, they all seem to "find a beautiful home."
I love beads and add many to my stitching. I also enjoy stitching the Mill Hill beaded kits. I would love to learn how to make the pins :) (*HUGS*)

  14. Oh, I love these nice little pincushions. Like you I have a collection of overdyed threads that I use only rarely. But they are perfect for little stitched pieces like pincushions and pillows.

  28. Stunning! I dug that freebie out of my file thanks to Faye, but have I gotten moving on it yet--NO! My excuse is that my fiber hasn't arrived. I ordered--no joke--a 30-yard hank of Belle Soie LE JUST for it. Well, okay, I'll make a quaker in it, too. Roflol.

Also, I have to make an Ornament (or two) for Christmas. I'll be crying in my beer over here when Dec comes and you show your tree heavy-laden with the (36, will it be?) fruits of your labor otherwise!

  31. Super little pincushions, pretty thread colours. I have lots of variegated threads that just sit in my stash box, maybe i should sort them out and use some of mine too
