Goode Huswife "he Bird Tree"
Stitched on coffee-dyed 32ct Buttercream
w/recommended DMC
I have always loved this design and it was a sweet design to stitch. The colors were a little brighter once I finished so I decided to give it a warm coffee bath to tone it down. I really like the way it turned out and hope to frame it soon.
With a good dose of coffee....
I always steam the wet piece with a hot iron to bring out the coffee stain and this pic really shows the effect on the fabric. It really gives a vintage look that I just love.

So...that's 4 down and 11 more to go! I spent the day with stitching friends yesterday hosted by Amy and I got a lot down on my next Challenge piece, Goode Huswife's "The Tree of Life". I love that the coloring is similar for many of the Goode Huswife and CHS samplers so I hope to have a wall full before the end of the year!

I love the antiqued look that the coffee bath gave to this piece. Can't wait to see number 5!

ReplyDeleteA beautiful finish! I absolutely adore this pattern and have to find time to stitch it soon :) I finished in 2009 "In the Bee Man's Garden" that came from this same series it would make a darling companion piece to this one ;)
