Crazy flu challenge.....

This past week was the "crazy flu challenge" where you don't stitch at all for five straight days.

I rejoined the living on Friday and made up
for my lost stitching time this weekend.

First... I needed some LK therapy and
stitched this cutie .....

LK "Where's the Party"
30ct WDW Guacamole

I plan to make this into a little pillow and
will use the fabric shown.  I love the WDW
fabric and have some extra that probably
won't last too long!

I did make some substitutions
(GA Midnight Sky, WDW Hunter
for the greens since the called for colors
(WDW Holly, Envywere a little
harsh for my taste.  I also swapped the
red (GA Buckeye Scarlet) to
better match the backing fabric.
I still need to add the little gold beads around
the boots but hope to get this one sewn
up this next weekend.

I then reached into my
"Big O' Bag of Challenge"
and brought out this beauty to stitch....

 CHS "Her Sampler"

I will say this one looks so much better
stitched...the pic on the design just doesn't
do it justice.  It may also be the Buttercream linen, which is just luscious with this color
palette.   If you have this one languishing in your stash, you need to pull it out and stitch it!
You won't be disappointed.

I think I will stick with this one this week since
I can most likely finish it and put a check by
one of my challenge pieces.

Pork Chop was definitely feeling lonely this week
and decided last night he had been ignored
long enough and would take matters into his own
"paws".  I share with the "look" I got when I asked him to kindly remove himself from in front of the computer screen....

He's still cute even when he's mad...

I'm looking like this too about now as I psych myself up for work tomorrow....ugh!

Oh well...thanks for visiting and hope you have had a good stitching weekend!

  1. Glad to hear that you are feeling better. I like your substitutions for the L*K. I'm always such a chicken when it comes to that.
I love your sampler. I find that I like a lot of pieces better when I see them in person. I think pictures can leave a lot to be desired.
    Happy Stitching!

  2. I'm glad you're feeling better! Being sick is no fun at all.

I need to go check out the original colors in the LK piece but I surely do like the colors you've used.

  3. I'm sorry you had the flu--knocks you down and steals your time (and makes you feel awful). The CHS sampler IS very pretty--some of the CHS packaging really didn't sell the designs!

  4. Sorry that nasty flu took a bite out of your week! Glad you are feeling better. It will come as no surprise to you that I love your L*K piece - not sure I have that one - guess I will put it on the list - hehehe. I also really like your sampler, it looks so clean on that fabric.

  5. So sorry to hear you had that nasty flu bug that is going around! But glad to hear you are feeling better now. Love the L*K piece and like you I change the colors around all the time too to match my fabric, it's just so much easier that way :) I really like the CHS piece too and it looks like it's almost finished too???? Take care!

  6. Glad you're feeling better. I haven't looked in the mirror, but I suspect I look a lot like you and Porkchop. After three days off, I'm really dreading 5:50 tomorrow morning!

  7. You had me going for a minute there with the crazy flu challenge. lol! Glad you're feeling better. I love your finish! And the Her Sampler -- it really is beautiful. I need to stitch this one! Sorry about work tomorrow. I know the feeling!

  8. Sorry to hear you have had the "crud"...No fun and hoping to dodge the bullet!!! I am LOVING that CH my name all over it~~ Pace yourself this week...being worn down and working....take care of yourself!

  9. Ugh ~ You know it's bad when you stay home sick and don't even want to stitch! Glad you're feeling better. 'Where's the Party' is adorable and the sampler is looking great.

  10. so glad to hear you are feeling better. being sick is just not fun. Love the sampler. and definitely love the LK. and the priceless look on kitty's face. :)

  11. Sorry you've been ill, hope you are feeling much better now. Where's the Party is adorable, and you've made great progress on your sampler.
My cat looks at me like that sometimes too!

  12. Sorry you were laid low but glad you're feeling better - I've woken up with a cold this morning and am finding it a struggle to get going.

Cute finish and great progress on Her Sampler! That was one of my favourite finishes from last year :)

Why do cats always plonk themselves in the most inconvenient places? ;)

  13. Sorry to hear the flu bug caught up with you Karen and to lose 5 days stitching is just not on! But you've sure made up for it with such gorgeous stitching ~ the LK one is fab and good colour choices but the 'Her Sampler' is just fab, I've nver seen Buttercream Linen before but as you say the palette is just perfect - one for the shopping list definitely!
Hope work isn't too bad! xxx

  14. Ugh! Sorry to hear that you had the flu. You made such nice progress on Her Sampler, even with the break because of being sick! It looks great, and I made a note that you suggested Buttercream for when I plan to stitch it. Great L*K finish, too!

  15. Luckily the Flu Challenge has not come knocking on our door. Her Sampler looks great - you are right, the picture on the pattern does not do it justice. The L*K finish is darling. Glad your feeling better.

  16. Seems as though you survived the challenge! Sorry to hear you were so sick. But your latest stitching is lovely!

  17. oh my!! That flu bug is EVERYWHERE isn't it??? My DH came down with it during the night Friday/Sat......he went to work today, but he still wasn't at 100%.....Sure hope I don't get it....
Love your LK piece......they just bring a smile to the face, don't they!?!?!?

  18. I'm so sorry you had the flu Karen!! I had it a couple years ago and thought I was going to die!! Hope you are feeling much better. Love your little finish and "Her Sampler" is looking great! You'll be done in no time! :)

  19. So sorry to hear you were sick. Glad you got some time to rest and recover and I hope you continue to feel better. Your CHS piece is just gorgeous. Love the linen too.

  20. I hope you are feeling much better, Karen. The flu is a horrible thing to deal with! Your CHS piece is amazing and I love the linen you used.

  21. Ugh, the crazy flu challenge sounds horrible! Glad that you're feeling better and back to stitching (cute stitching btw!)

  23. Glad you are feeling better.

Great L*K finish and the CHS is so pretty. I just love stitching on the Lakeside Linen too:))

  24. Karen, don't you know you're NOT supposed to join THAT challenge???? ;o) I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better now though. What a rough week you must have had :o(

You definitely made it up in the stitching department though! Love your LK finish and I like the color changes you made. I might have to steal those ;o) The WDW linen is gorgeous!

Oh my, yes stick to this one because it looks like you're almost done!

  25. Sorry the flu bug found its way to your house. But! you sure did make up for lost time, didn't you. Love the L*K but the CHS has really caught my eye. I wonder if it's still available somewhere? Gonna' have to go look now, lol. Don't do too much too soon!

  26. Glad you are feeling better and that you managed to get some much needed stitching in over the weekend! Great LK finish and the sampler is lovely.

  27. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and I love your latest L*K design, it will make an adorable pillow. Her Sampler is a beauty and my cat gives me that "look" all the time when I tell him to get off my bed :) Happy stitching to you.

  28. CHS is wonderful. L*K is super too, the fabric is really lovely.

Sorry to read you have had this awful bug thats doing the rounds, good news that you are on the mend

  29. Sorry to hear that You have not been feeling well..and happy to know You are already better.
Both stitchings are lovely ,Ilove the colours You choosed for the LK-pattern.

  30. Oh, that CHS piece and the LK piece are absolutely beautiful! You get more done sick than a lot of people who are well! :) Hope you are feeling lots better.

  31. oh Karen, beautiful pieces, great fabric choice for the LK, and I just love your CHS her sampler, can you tell me if this is an oop chart? I have been searching for a while but can't find a copy

hope you feel better soon, ((( hugs ))

  32. Love your LK finish, Karen--so cute... And I the CHS sampler is so lovely.

And I love Pork Chop ( I have a thing for all black cats!) Is he as huge as he looks in the photo? My vet said my old black cat shadow could have doubled for a panther in a horror movie--he was that giant!

  33. Glad you're feeling better now! I've been playing dodge ball with it since there are so many of my friends who are sick.
Your LK finish is adorable! I love your sampler as well. Where do you manage to find that Buttercream linen? I'd love to try some out.
