I finally got around to stitching a couple
of designs from BBD's "Trix or Treat"...
I just love this book!
BBD "Boo!"
Stitched on 36ct linen w/DMC
BBD "Black Cat"
Stitched on 32ct rust linen w/DMC
My favorite....the black cat!
If he was just a little fatter, he would
remind me of my own black cat!

"Boo!" almost became a casualty.
Don't you love the little scallop fabric frame?
I hate to waste my fabric so I usually leave
just enough for finishing. I stitched this little
cutie with no problem. Unfortunately I started
another design on the same piece of fabric
thinking I had plenty of room between the
two and was horrified to see just an inch
between the two when I removed the q-snaps.

Well....what to do.
Thanks to my handy Big Shot, a scallop square
die and some fusible web, I think my finish
turned out pretty cute. I actually like the
way it turned out and hope to do this again.

(Hubby will be happy I'm finally using some of those dies.)

ReplyDeleteLovely finishes Karen! I don't know which one I like more! I'm currently stitching Trix or Treat from this book and seeing your ornaments I want to drop it and do an ornie instead!
ReplyDeleteI've been called the miser since I often push the limits when it comes to my fabric margins!
Both your finishes are too cute. Hope you have a great time at Pals. Wish I could have made it this year!
ReplyDeleteI love both of those finishes! I had just done exactly the same thing, stitched something on a scrap of fabric, being frugal, and then realized I hadn't really left enough room to finish it. I like your solution better than what I did.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I love the way you 'salvaged' the shorted piece. Looks darling. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful finishes, Karen! Great save with the too-close pair too! That rust colored fabric is so yummy.
ReplyDeleteHello
ReplyDeleteI love your work. Black cat is lovely:)Are your pillows for sale? Have a nice sunday:-) Best wishes:)
Such a Halloween spirit here! Love your finishes Karen. Great job rescuing your Boo pillow ;o)
ReplyDeleteLOVE 'em! That's the way too turn an oh-no-what-now into a wow! :D
ReplyDeleteWow! You are so talented! You have to tell me... what is a Big Shot? And where would I find a scallop square? This is all new to me! Are they in scrapbook stores, and you just use them for fabric?
ReplyDeleteIt was great meeting you in MB, btw. :)
