Thanks for all of your comments regarding
my little fat men. If you are even
thinking about stitching them, go ahead
because they are aquick and fun stitch.

I hope LK does another series!
I've had several people ask how I attach
my ric rac and thought I would share
my best stitch for finishing trim....
a liquid stitch!
My sewing skills, when it comes to detail,
are limited (which means I'm just lazy!)
Another stitcher recommended this to me one
time and I have to say I'm hooked. It is very easy
to use, dries quickly but still allows you to adjust
your trim before it is set. It doesn't take too much
either so my little bottle has lasted me for over
a year now. I have used it with chenille trim
also without a hitch. I know there several
brands available and expect you would
get similar results.
Someone else asked about the look of the ric rac
so I thought I would show a pic from the side.
The backing fabric I chose is more for form
than fashion. The fabric is actually an outdoor
canvas and I used it for its stiffness. Once
stuffed, the little pillow holds its shape better.

I picked these beauties up today from my framer
and thought I would share. By this time
tomorrow, all will be gracing my wall.
CHS "Americana"
I {love} this frame molding.
BOAF "Bitter Flower Sampler"
The darker frame really changed the look of this sampler.
BBD "Their Song"
I used the same molding for this one because of the
little hint of gold detail.

Well...I hope to have another Challenge finish
this weekend so I am off to stitch!
Happy stitching....
Wow!! I never thought of gluing down the rick rack!! Good for you..... Of course, I'd have it strung all over my stitching, so being the clutz I am, I will have to stick to needle and thread!!!hahahahal Love those framed goodies too....! Lookin' good, Faye
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing the liquid sewing tip! It will be a great help to me on my finishing. Your pieces are great, I know you will enjoy them up on the wall!
ReplyDeleteAppreciate the finishing tip - as sewing is 'so not my thing' any hints or tips to avoid it are appreciated. I've been trying to decide which of the framed finishes I like best - and I can't decide - a wonderful job matching frames to stitch - your new display will be lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe framed pieces are fantastic and I'm sure they will look great on your walls.
ReplyDeleteI always try to stitch my edging on, but I use tacky glue for rick rack. I will have to look for that liquid stitch, probably work better. Thanks for sharing
Happy Stitching!!!
Beautiful choice of frames. Thank you for the finishing tip. Wishing you a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteWell done! I love the quick stitches by LK. I'll have to look for that glue!

ReplyDeleteWow Karen you have certainly been busy with your finishing and your newly framed pieces look wonderful. You have so many finished for the year already you put me to shame.
ReplyDeleteHow terribly clever, Karen! That is an awesome tip. I was wondering how one would sew on ric rac without it showing! This is going on my shopping list.
ReplyDeleteYour framed pieces look amazing. Congratulations!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous framed pieces, love them all. Thanks for the finishing tip too. I love your ric rac finish.
ReplyDeleteYour framed pieces look fantastic. Your ric rac attaching tip is invaluable, as I always worry about using glue/adhesive, so to know that it works without a hitch is good to know.
ReplyDeleteAny and all finishing tips are very welcome.
ReplyDeleteYour framed pieces are beautiful. You chose the
perfect frames.
I have the Bitter Flower stithed from a few years ago but it's still in the box.
You've inspired me to have it framed.
Margaret
Thank for the tip on the fabric glue. Must give it a try.
ReplyDeleteYour framed pieces are just lovely.
Teresa's Heartfelt Stitches
Thank you for the Fabri-Tac suggestion ... & your stitchings are wonderful! Blessings, Shirlee
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! I used a glue gun to attach a trim one time. What a mess! I sewed on a large cording onto a pillow and that took forever. So I'm happy to see what you use. Your framed work are gorgeous. Do you use non-glare glass? I just took a small piece to be framed yesterday and asked for the non-glare glass. I'm a frame virgin! It was my first time but knew enough that I wanted non-glare! Wow! I'll have to save up to have something else framed! Have a super Sunday!
ReplyDeleteKaren -- Great framing! I just love the frames you chose. Thanks for the tip about the ric-rac too. I will have to look for it the next time I'm at Joanne's.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing your glue tip! I'll have to remember that. Beautiful framing!
ReplyDeleteA nice tip for sharing! Oh, my - lovely framed pieces. You'll be staring at the walls while you're stitching now, won't you? I sure would be! Beautiful pieces and great frame selections, too. Gettin'em done!
ReplyDeleteYour framed pieces look gorgeous. Thank you for tips for attaching rik rak. I need all the help I can get lol.
ReplyDeleteLove the framed pieces! Thanks for the great tip on the fabric glue. I too have a hard time with trims.
ReplyDeleteI really like all three of your framed pieces, but I love Long May it Wave and the frame!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sewing tip, somedays I dont feel like lugging out the machine from my cabinet and clearing off the kitchen table to sew a trin on. When I have a dedicated craft room it might be a different story :)
ReplyDeleteI love the framing done, all the pieces look fantastic Karen :) Have a wonderful Sunday **HUGS**
I glue my ric-rac too Karen but for some reason certain types just won;t stick. I;ve tried using different glues but no luck so far. It;s very frustrating as it;s such a pretty way to finish.
ReplyDeleteYour two new framed pieces are beautiful!
Hmm, I'll have to find that glue!! Love the framed pieces, especially the Bitter Flower one (I have the pattern!) Really love the choice of frames for all your pieces. Joann's must be a good place to get things framed!!
ReplyDeleteTake care!
Oh my goodness, your framed pieces are just wonderful. Perfect frame choices for all of them!!
ReplyDeleteMy sewing skills are a little rusty, so I really like the idea of using the fabric glue.
ReplyDeleteYour framed pieces are just beautiful!
I'm too lazy to sew too, so I will look for this next time I am at the store :)
ReplyDeleteLove all of your framed pieces!
Your framer did a great job on your pieces. They're gorgeous! Oh yes, I'll be stitching 6 Fat Man in April with an SAL group. Looking forward to it :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Veronica.
Thank you for the ric-rak tip. Your stitching looks lovely in those frames.
ReplyDeleteKaren, your framed pieces are just beautiful! The frames are perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip - I used to tacky glue for some chenille, but it can be messy. I'm going to have to get some Fabric-Tac! :)
Thanks for the tip! I may have to give this a go. Your framing looks awesome. I know that has to feel good to have them ready to hang now!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! As long as it doesn't yellow your fabric, I say why not ;o) Great job Karen!
ReplyDeleteOh my! Fabulous!
What a great tip! I tried sewing that rick rack into the seam...........once. What a freaking awkward mess I made of it. It was awful. I'll have to try this instead!
ReplyDeleteLovely lovely framed pieces!
Great tip, thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe framed pieces are stunning.
Beautiful work -looks lovely framed ;)
ReplyDeleteYour framed pieces look wonderful! Thank you for sharing such a handy tip, I'll have to give that a go myself.

ReplyDeleteThe framed pieces are stunners all three! I love, love, love the Americana piece!
I couldn't live without Fabric Tack! I tried another brand and I didn't feel it worked as well.
