Southern Belles.....

I hope everyone had a great holiday season.  It
seems harder each year to get back in the swing
of things after such a nice holiday break.  I think
how crafty I could be if I didn't have to work.

As usual, our Christmas wasn't very cold and
no snow in sight.   To compensate, I spent
my time stitching these wonderful snowy
belles while wishing we had a little
snow in my part of the south.

Stitched on 28ct khaki evenweave w/ DMC

Like the "Fat Men", I fell in love with
these ladies.   Once I got the first one done, I
just kept on going and finished the
rest up during Christmas.

Hopefully they will be properly dressed
before too long!

I have been busy planning my stitching for
this year.  I won't be doing the Crazy Challenge
since I still have five projects lingering.
I can't wait to share what I will be doing once
I get everything kitted up.

We were travelling New Year's Eve so I
packed this little sweet design to stitch.
Something about that redbird just caught my eye.

 Trilogy "Happy Chirp Chirp Day"
stitched on 28ct natural linen w/ Gentle Arts & Victorian Motto

I didn't realize I had picked up 28ct so this design
turned out a lot larger than I had hoped.
I am also not very happy with the coverage
of the red but I can live with it.

Well it looks like everyone is off to a good start to the new year and I love seeing all of the new projects stitchers have going.   I hope you have a great stitchy weekend!

happy stitches....

  2. I have been wishing for snow too Karen. It doesn't look like there is any in our near future. Maybe if we keep stitching snowpeople?... You know I love the little redbird stitch and those snow belles are just plain cute!

  5. Love the Snow Belles - I think my favorite is the Snow Queen!

Certainly no snow here in Florida. I look at all the beautiful photos I'm seeing of fresh snow and sure wish there was. Though I do understand living in it is really different than those photos!

    Happy New Year Karen!

  7. Love your Snow Belles Karen. I wasn't going to stitch these but after seeing yours I may have to!

    Your redbird is gorgeous.

I've been longing for snow. It's been mild for the time of year and so disappointing. We're supposed to have our coldest winter for 100 years.

    Happy New Year!

  11. Wonderful projects, Karen! I can relate to your feelings of wanting to stitch snow since you aren't getting any yourself. I didn't realize just how much I miss snow until I saw an episode of This Old House where Boston was getting a lot of snow. I definitely need to borrow your idea to stitch some snowmen to compensate for the lack of white stuff in my area!

    Happy new year!

  12. Your Snow Ladies are wonderful, Karen! I can't wait to see how you finish them. My favorite is the Baby It's Cold girl ~ too sweet!

Love that red bird too! I'm sure the 28 was easy to stitch on while on the go...am I right???

We were promised a "near blizzard" for Christmas and got NOTHING! Stupid drought!

  13. Your Snow Belles are adorable and I know your finishes will be perfection, Karen :)

I'll happily send you some of our snow--it sure is pretty, I have to admit, but after the first couple of weeks, it gets gray and tiresome...

  18. If we would just have snow, and no ice, that would be great! But they usually come together, and no one knows how to drive in it! So, will get my snow fix via viewing your cute little Snow Belle finishes. The red bird looks fine! We are always too critical of our own work! Happy New Year to you! Hugs!

  30. Congrats on your Snow Belles finishes. They look fabulous!
I love the little Red Bird. The poor coverage isn't noticeable. It certainly is a lovely shade of red.
