Flock of Blackbirds......


One blackbird.....

GA/ST/Victorian Motto threads

I put the last stitch in this one last night and have
to say this has to be one of my favorite BBD
designs.   (Well....until I stitch the next!)

I used Victorian Motto reds and greens
and love the slight difference in color
it gave the design.
  
I almost hated to see this one end.

I participated in the F&S BBD Exchange 
awhile back and never did post my
stitched piece to Karen R. 
(Oops... I realized I forgot to take a
picture of my finish so I had to borrow Karen's. ) 

I took a little snippet from the design and 
realized how versatile BBD designs are with
so many "small designs" within one large design.

I spent last Saturday with Amy and picked
up some of the BBD books I just couldn't
live without a moment longer!  I have 
been searching for Peppermint & Holly
and was so excited to see DSL had a few
copies.  Fearing I would miss my chance to
get some of the other books, I decided I
better not wait!

When I saw this design, I knew that
I just had to stitch it....now!   Amy had the
blue gingham linen and, after a nice soak
in a coffee bath, my needle is ready to go. 
I am using DMC for this one and will give the
linen another dip once stitched.

    I've never seen checked linen like that. Truly very cool. Grats on all the finishes. I love the black birds in Our Song. They're so cute!! And grats on the acquisitions too. I have a couple of things I'd like to do that are OOP and very hard to find.

    Oh Karen! Love your finish! It's one of my fav BBD pieces. Looking forward to seeing more blackbird progress.

    When I read your post, the song, "Sing a Song of Sixpence" came to mind..when you stitch 4 and 20 blackbirds, will you bake a pie? LOL!!!

    Their Song turned out stunning, and you inspired me to pull out Peppermint and Holly. Right now I'm in an autumn stitching mood, but I bet in a week or so I'll start thinking about Christmas ornaments.

    I love the colour substitutes you used for Their Song. It looks fantastic. This was one of my favourites as well and I really missed stitching on it.
    I just received BBD A Stitcher's Journey and it's a wonderful book. So many lovely projects to choose from. I love their stuff!
    You've chosen a great one for your new start. That fabric is lovely.

    Congratulations on the finishes!! I really love that BBD sampler, Their Song--I think it's one of their best, which is high praise since I love all BBDs. ;) You did a great job with the squares, too. Love the stash haul and the new start!
