Thank you all for the wonderful
birthday wishes.
I am so lucky to have a talented brother
and am glad he will share the fruits of
 his labor with me!

I also wanted to share goodies from sweet
CharleneBall is celebrating its 100th
anniversary and she packed these goodies
in one there commemorative jars.

I am in love with button scissor fob....
it is so petite and just the perfect size.

Goodies....

I just had to share some birthday goodies.

My brother does woodworking as a hobby so
at Christmas I asked if he thought he could
make a hornbook.   I hadn't thought about
it again so I was so surprised and
happy to receive these today.

Oak hornbooks

Now I have to figure out if I have something
stitched for finishing.  If not, then I will
just have to stitch something.
I have a feeling he is going to be sorry he
did this... goodness knows what I will
have him making for me next!

I had the chance to spend the birthday with
my mom and she was sweet enough to get
me a cake.  I thought the flowers were so
pretty so I took a pic.   It was yummy too!

And... she sent me this flower gift known as
"Queen Bee"
which is now decorating my cubicle.

I topped it all with a little cross stitch retail
therapy but it is now back to reality.

Thanks for all your sweet comments on my
sewing box.   It was a lot of fun to do and
I can't wait to finish another one.   I have a
feeling I will have one in every room
of the house before too long!

I am now off to stitch!  Hope you have a
great week with many happy stitches!

My new sewing box....

Did you see Julie's sewing box
recently on her blog?
Oh my goodness.... I just had to have one.
Right then.

I headed to Hobby Lobby with coupon in
hand to pick out a box and the rest is history.

My new sewing box.....

I decided to paint mine black with a little
distressing and wax to finish it off.

BBD Birds and Berries
from A Stitcher's Journey
stitched on 40ct Wake n' Bake linen
w/ Victorian Motto

I decided to stitch in purples and lavenders
to match a fabric I had on hand.
 I love the finished design.

Like Julie, I covered the mirror with a somewhat
tufted insert.  I used fabric to also cover
the bottom of the box and little compartments.

Now...I have a great little sewing box.

We attended Tartan Day South, a wonderful
new Celtic festival, Saturday and I was happy to see
a lady selling Scottish and Irish cross stitch designs.

She owns a shop in Charlotte, Stitch Traders,
and I told her I was happy to see another
shop not too far away from me.   She asked that
I "spread the word" that there is a shop in
Charlotte so if you are ever in the area,
you will have to visit.   She had some
wonderful celtic designs.

I did pick up this needle minder.
I just love thistles and knew it would the
perfect decoration in my new sewing box!

Here are a few more pics from the day.....

Cutthroat Shamrock.... one of my favorite bands!
My hubby knows that I am in love
with the bass player....
maybe its the dreads!

Gotta love rockin' music that includes
a bagpipe...and a kilt!

Saw a lot of kilts....

Highland games are hard work even for the birds.
A hawk from the birds of prey exhibition
decided to relax awhile during the caber toss.
Nice break in the competition for everyone.
