Staking a claim for the best viewing area and anxiously waiting the start of the parade!
(Note...my niece was smart and brought a book to read.)
Military band......local high school band.....politicians (especially in an election year!) ....pageant queens.....fire trucks.....tractors.....Shriners.......candy
Hillbilly Shriners were the funniest and they do this in 100 degree heat for such a good cause.
Good Parade= Replica of Dukes of Hazzard "General Lee
Great Parade=Two replicas of the "General Lee"
Our annual dinner from the local Piggly Wiggly.
So....what's missing??? A pic of some watermelon! Due to the extreme heat and above said dinner, we missed the free watermelon.
On a sad note.....my Tigers lost this weekend to our instate rivals...twice....at the CWS and they are now home. Sad day in Tigerland today but better luck next year! Now....only 70 days until football season.
If you made it this far, thanks for visiting! Stay cool....
Looks like you had a fun day. I enjoyed looking at the pictures.
ReplyDeleteWow, that reminds me so much of home! I grew up in a tiny little town in middle Tennessee and that's pretty much what our parades always looked like, too. ;)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun day -- except for waiting for the parade to start and the heat of course. I love seeing parades!
ReplyDeleteI love hometown celebrations! I've always lived in a big city but it was always fun to see my kids in the parade at my ex MILs town.
ReplyDeleteI love good old fashioned fun!!! And that spread from the PW looks AWESOME!!! Now, go buy a nice watermelon and enjoy it at your house!!hahaha... Hope this finds you well, stitching and staying cool...Hot here at the beach like I am sure it is up your way.... Happy summer, Faye
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful day. Gosh I love watermellon. I remember us as kids sitting on the front steps with juice dripping down are arms. The best!! Sorry about your Tigers. I am all geared up for tonights game though against UCLA. I guess you know who I will be cheering for?
ReplyDeleteTake Care and have a great day!!
ROFL! Love the post Karen!
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing the PW for the first time and couldn't believe it was an actual grocery store ;o)
I don't think that there is anything better than a good town parade. We try to get to a couple every year. It's like you've stepped back in time.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great parade. We don't have a PW in our area. I'm envious. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had some fun - Cute post :)
ReplyDeleteLooks as if you had a fun day!
